Group Scout Leader Search
The search is on for a new volunteer team leader for a number of our Groups in Cole Valley South, and we need you to think about anyone you know who would thrive in this role!
Please have a read of the below email which sets out what we are looking for and how to get involved.
Where are the roles?
We are looking for Group Scout Leaders for the following groups:
- 24th Birmingham (Manor Farm)
- 81st Birmingham (West Heath)
- 148th Birmingham (St Dunstans)
- 220th Birmingham (St Agnes)
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jake Oliver for his service in getting 148th St Dunstans turned into a thriving group with a large team and to Mike Bennett for his 50+ years of service with 81st West Heath. We wish them both the very best where their Scouting takes them next.
So what is the role?
This role holds the title of Group Scout Leader (GSL) and acts as a manager, supporting other volunteers to ensure the [Group / District] runs effectively and provides quality Scouting to more and more young people in Cole Valley South and the surrounding area. This role would be great for an individual and but also work well as a role share with a team of 2 or 3 people.
In a nutshell, the GSL would:
- Inspire and enthuse people
- Apply strategic thinking to a challenge
- Build and lead a team of key volunteers
- Be resourceful and energetic
- Believe passionately about developing young people and volunteers
What’s in it for you?
Volunteering with us is both fun and rewarding. It offers the opportunity to develop a range of skills and attributes which are transferable to the workplace, such as confidence, social skills, teamwork ability and leadership and management skills, including line management experience. In addition to this is the opportunity to rediscover adventure, make new friends and get involved in the community; all of which is great for personal development and will enhance the CV.
How to apply?
You can either apply for the role yourself or nominate someone that you think would be suitable for the role. For people that are nominated, we will arrange to have an informal conversation with them to understand if they would be interested/willing to apply for the role.
Thank you for your time so far, and if you have any questions please do get in touch! If you are interested but want to know more then please do not hesitate to reach out for an informal chat about the role by contact Jamal Syed at jamal.syed@colevalleysouth.org.uk
